Simply Accounts was established in 2014 in Handbridge, Chester by Mike Wilson, whose family has deep roots in the area and who continues to support the community as a volunteering trustee and treasurer of the Handbridge Community Association.
We specialise in providing clear, all-inclusive accountancy and bookkeeping solutions for small and medium-sized businesses. Our proactive, hands-on team works alongside you to simplify your financial processes so you can focus on running and growing your business.
In 2018, we strengthened our offering by acquiring a respected local accountancy firm, expanding our client base across a wide range of industries and business sizes. Today, we support clients nationwide from our Chester office, using a modern digital approach that allows us to work efficiently with businesses wherever they are based.

Sandy Wilson
Chief Operations Officer
Sandy joined Simply Accounts in 2021 following a successful 15-year career in education, where she held senior leadership positions including Assistant Headteacher and Special Educational Needs Coordinator.
Since joining the firm, Sandy has played a key role in the operational development of Simply Accounts, helping to strengthen internal systems, client delivery, workflow management, and team coordination as the business has continued to grow.
Known for her organisation, resilience, and attention to detail, Sandy oversees day-to-day operations across the practice and is passionate about ensuring clients receive a professional, efficient, and supportive experience at every stage. Outside of work, Sandy enjoys travelling, reading, art, and strategic thinking.
Matt Vague
Chief Growth Officer
Matt joined Simply Accounts in 2025 as a director, bringing more than two decades of leadership experience across hospitality, technology, operations, and business development. Throughout his career, he has built a strong track record in driving commercial growth, enhancing client experience, and supporting businesses through strategic expansion and operational change.
As Chief Growth Officer, Matt leads the firm’s growth and relationship strategy, with a focus on business development, client engagement, operational scalability, and long-term commercial progression. Combining strategic insight with a people-first approach, he is passionate about building strong partnerships, creating opportunities, and ensuring clients receive a proactive and high-quality service experience.
Known for his energy, communication skills, and commercial mindset, Matt plays a key role in the continued evolution and expansion of Simply Accounts. Outside of work, Matt is usually found in the gym and enjoys travelling, seeking sunsets and sandy beaches, music, and fine dining.
Tom Richardson
Senior Client Manager
Tom started his career in accountancy practice in 2014, beginning as an apprentice in Chester while studying towards his AAT qualification. Since then, he has progressed through the profession into a Client Manager role and is currently part-qualified with ACCA, working towards full qualification in 2026.
Tom is passionate about building strong client relationships and supporting businesses with proactive, practical advice across accounting, tax, and business matters. He takes pride in delivering a high standard of client service, helping business owners stay organised, compliant, and focused on growth.
Known for his approachable nature, reliability, and attention to detail, Tom plays an important role in supporting clients on a day-to-day basis and ensuring they feel well looked after. Outside of work, Tom enjoys playing football and golf.
Ben Young
Client Manager
Ben began his career in accountancy practice in the late 2010s as a trainee and quickly developed a strong passion for helping businesses and building long-term client relationships. Since then, he has progressed within practice and is fully AAT qualified, continuing to expand his technical knowledge and experience across a broad range of accounting, tax, and business matters.
Ben enjoys working closely with both clients and colleagues, taking pride in delivering responsive support, practical solutions, and clear communication. Known for his approachable nature and team-focused mindset, he values building trusted professional relationships and helping clients feel confident and well supported as their businesses grow.
Committed to delivering a high standard of service, Ben plays an important role in the day-to-day client experience and the continued success of the firm.Outside of work, Ben is an avid gamer and also enjoys staying active in the gym.
Louise Halpin
Accounts Assistant
Louise is an experienced Accounts Assistant with a strong background in bookkeeping, credit control, and office administration. She is Xero certified and plays an important role in supporting the smooth day-to-day running of the practice, helping ensure clients and colleagues receive an efficient and professional service.
With excellent organisational skills and a proactive approach, Louise supports a wide range of operational and administrative functions across the business. Known for her reliability, attention to detail, and approachable nature, she takes pride in helping clients feel welcomed and well supported from their very first interaction with the firm.
After taking a career break to raise her three children, Louise returned to the profession with determination and commitment, quickly becoming a valued and trusted member of the Simply Accounts team.Outside of work, Louise enjoys spending time with her family and maintaining a positive work-life balance.
