Simply Accounts was established in 2014 in Handbridge, Chester by Mike Wilson, whose family has deep roots in the area and who continues to support the community as a volunteering trustee and treasurer of the Handbridge Community Association.

We specialise in providing clear, all-inclusive accountancy and bookkeeping solutions for small and medium-sized businesses. Our proactive, hands-on team works alongside you to simplify your financial processes so you can focus on running and growing your business.

In 2018, we strengthened our offering by acquiring a respected local accountancy firm, expanding our client base across a wide range of industries and business sizes. Today, we support clients nationwide from our Chester office, using a modern digital approach that allows us to work efficiently with businesses wherever they are based.

Mike Wilson

Founder & CEO

Mike founded Simply Accounts in 2014 after nearly a decade in corporate and practice accounting, driven by a passion for helping SMEs achieve clear, efficient, and reliable financial support. A respected member of the CIOT and AAT, he continually stays ahead of tax legislation to provide clients with expert guidance. Away from the desk, Mike enjoys travelling with his wife, caring for his two Ridgebacks, staying active at the gym, and contributing to the Handbridge community.

Sandy

Sandy Wilson

Director of Operations

Sandy joined Simply Accounts in 2021 after 15 years in education, where she held leadership roles from Assistant Head to Special Needs Coordinator. Inspired by Mike, she transitioned into accountancy to support clients and develop her skills in business and finance. Known for her organisation, tenacity, and attention to detail, Sandy enjoys helping clients feel fully supported. Outside work, she loves travelling, reading, art, and strategic thinking.

Matt

Matt Vague

Director of Growth & Client Relations

Matt joined Simply Accounts as Director of Growth & Client Relations, bringing 25 years of experience across hospitality, tech, and operations. He focuses on business development, client success, and scaling operations, combining strategic insight with a people-first approach. Outside work, Matt is likely found at the gym and enjoys travel, seeking sunsets and sandy beaches, music, and fine dining.

Debi

Debi Bird

Senior Accountant

Debi has built a successful career in accountancy, progressing from office junior to accounts senior through dedication, hard work, and continuous learning. She is currently pursuing her ATT qualification - a challenge she finds demanding and rewarding. Outside work, Debi is passionate about travel, social connections, and creativity, from crafting charms to exploring new cultures. Recently, she also qualified as a beauty and holistic therapist, embodying her motto: “You are never too old to try out whatever it is that you may wish to do.”

Ben

Ben Young

Accountant

Ben began his accountancy career as a trainee in the late 2010s and quickly discovered his passion for the field. Specialising in practice, he is now a fully qualified bookkeeper and holds an AAT Level 4 Diploma in Professional Accounting. Ben enjoys working closely with colleagues and clients, finding effective solutions, and supporting the success of others. Outside work, he is an avid gamer and enjoys staying active at the gym.

Lousie

Louise Halpin

Accounts Assistant

Louise is an experienced accounting and administration professional, Xero certified and skilled in bookkeeping, credit control, and office management. After studying AAT Accounting at night school and taking a career break to raise her three children, she has become a valued member of the Simply Accounts team, known for her resilience, determination, and dedication to supporting colleagues and clients alike.
